Open Spotlight: 17.2

Another week of the 2017 Open is in the books! Unlike last week, we had a whole lotta skill in 17.2 with toes to bar and bar muscle ups! We also saw the return of the dumbell in the form of dumbbell walking lunges and dumbbell power cleans. 

The Workout: 12 Min AMRAP Of: 

Rounds 1 & 2

50' Dumbbell Wakling Lunge (25' down & back) 50#/35#

16 Toes to Bar

8 Dumbbell Power Cleans 50#/35#

Rounds 3 & 4

50' Dumbbell Wakling Lunge (25' down & back) 50#/35#

16 Bar Muscle Ups

8 Dumbbell Power Cleans 50#/35#

 

This workout was all about strategy & how developed your skills on the pull up bar were. Scaled athletes had to do knee ups & chin over bar pull ups instead of toes to bar and muscle ups. We saw some more amazing efforts this week! Kerri got her first bar muscle ups in a workout and Cindy did 7 chin over bar pull ups in her workout! We are so proud of all our members who pushed on this one!

February Double Under Challenge

We're ramping up for The Open with a Challenge!

The February CrossFit Open Double Under Challenge

Participants will complete one double under for each successive day during the month of February leading up to The Open. 
Day 1 = 1 Double Under
Day 2 = 2 Unbroken Double Unders
Day 3 = 3 Unbroken Doulbe Unders, etc.

The double unders will be performed in the warm up & participants can try until they get it! The challenge will go right up until February 23rd (the first day of The Open) and by then we'll be jumping pro's!

The Open is Coming, The Open is Coming!

That's right, it's not just the British. The CrossFit Open is coming in hot too! 

For those of you that don't know, The CrossFit Open is a five week, five workout competition held in CrossFit affiliates and garage gyms all over the world. Workouts are released on Thursday night and athletes have until Monday night to complete them & submit their scores. There are RX, scaled, masters, and teens workouts posted, making The Open accessible to & possible for everyone. 

Here's some reasons why we think you should participate in The CrossFit Open with us: 

You're Good. Whether you believe it or not, you're good at this whole exercising thing. You workout all year long, coming into the gym week after week and putting in the time. The Open gives you a chance to showcase all that hard work.

You Get To Be A Part Of Something Bigger. The Open is something bigger than just Jersey Devil CrossFit. It's an awesome way for the entire CrossFit Community to come together. 

It's A Great Excuse To Trash Talk. Usually trash talking in the gym is a little excessive and borders on being frowned upon, but during The Open all bets are off. Trash talk with your buddies is all part of some friendly competition. 

There'll Probably Be Beer. We like to work hard, but that means we play just as hard. We'd be willing to bet that Friday's during The Open will be just as much a celebration as they are a challenge. 

You'll Surprise Yourself. Every year we see people push a little harder, go a little farther, and surprise themselves during the open. 

You May Even Inspire Others. You never know who's watching. Maybe someone in the gym looks up to you, or you struggle though the very thing they're afraid of struggling though. Your actions in the gym are inspiring and you should be proud of all your abilities.
